Today, showers are expected at several places throughout the island except from the Northern Province. Thunderstorm can occur in the western parts of Sri lanka during the afternoon and evening.
But usually February is a great month for holiday makers in Sri Lanka,. It’s still high season at the beach resorts along the southern and western coast of the island, because it’s dry season in the south-west. Temporary showers can occur throughout the year in this tropical wet zone. However, plenty of sunshine hours are normal in February in this area, with temperatures up to 30 °C.
In the dry zone, the north-eastern monsoon is wind down now, still some rainfall is common in February in coastal regions of the Eastern Province. But particularly Sri Lanka’s largest national parks, Yala and Wilpattu, will become drier and hotter now. Dry weather also returns to the Cultural Triangle in February, so beach holidays and heritage tours can be combined perfectly well in February.
But Kandy and the tea areas in the central highland are likely to be receiving some rainfall in February.
