What do you see on this image?
It’s the view from Adam’s Peak - which is the Buddhist pilgrim mountain Siri Pada - to the westerly direction, namely to the central highlands.
The highest point in the background is Pidurutalagala, formerly known as Mount Pedro, which is the island’s highest peak, reaching an altitude of almost 2,524 m (8,281 ft) above sea level.
The area in front of it is the largest Ceylon tea region. This tea-growing area between Nuwara Eliya and Adam’s Peak, with Hatton in its very centre, is known as the Dimbula tea region.
The lake at the foot of Adam’s Peak is Maussakele Reservoir, which is situated between Maskeliya and Dalhousie.
